According to Autocar, it’s unlikely Ford will replace the Ka due to lack of global compatibility. “It won’t pass a US crash test, it was designed too narrowly to suit European tastes and it’s only built in one place. It’ll get a light mid-life refresh but, as things stand, I can’t see a life for the car much beyond that,” Ford of Europe design boss, Martin Smith said. That makes me wonder how did the Fiat 500 (with whom the Ka shares many parts, including platform) was approved for the US market. Anyway this is my attempt to facelift the Ka with fascia borrowed from the Fiesta. It looks a little “scared” agree?

It’s weird that ford says that the KA isn’t good enough for the US crashtests, but the platform shared Fiat 500 is accepted by the US crashtest thing?
So it is an question why they think it will not pass the crashtest, because the Scion IQ, Mini, Fiat 500 and Samrt can pass it.

Dear Theophilus,
I wish you all the best for 2013. You have totally right with your comparaison Fiat 500/Ford Ka platforms for US test… It’s strange, or maybe because the Ka is only manufactures in Poland (not in line with the
“Global model” of the politic’s Ford).

It doesn’t look very nice with that grille, just like how the grill on the Peugeot 3008 doesn’t fit at all, and how Mitsubishi tried to paste their jet-fighter grille on all of their cars, including the Colt which looked ridiculous. It’s a good chop though, and I’ve never liked the Ford Ka after all.
