Proton Saga Hatchback

6 Aug

Was going to call this Proton Saga Noback Aeroback. Anyway the reason in this rendering is because I imagine Proton needs a temporary car, since the Savvy was discontinued in 2010, and the Emas will not be launched till 2013.

Unlike the Savvy that has a 2395mm wheelbase, this hatch shares most of it parts and components with the Saga (itself based on a stretched Savvy platform). This Saga hatch will be comparable to Perodua Myvi in size. This Saga hatch has Proton Saga Hatchback a 2456mm wheelbase, is 3780mm long, 1680mm wide and 1502mm tall. The new Myvi measures 3690mm long, 1665mm wide, 1545mm tall, and with a 2440mm wheelbase.

It’ll be great if the Saga hatch comes with the new CVT transmission and 1.6 litre engine, if not the turbo 1.6.

A great idea for Proton to do so, but we all well knew that this market will be dominated by the new Myvi

noooo…not that savvy should be curvier like the myvi or satria. or like the difference between the fiesta sedan and hatchback.

Front of the car has been done good, at back would suggest more modifications to the GetZ origin and needed to be in the latest league

This is a bit off topic, but could you work your magic on the new X3? Paul Tan has some nice high-resolution photos you can use:

“It’ll be great if the Saga hatch comes with the new CVT transmission and 1.6 litre engine, if not the turbo 1.6.”
Erm…the violent turbo vibration would cause the power window motor to crack and spoil.

Looks OK for short term sales but better put different front fascia design. Otherwise the curse from that slogan ‘My First Lotus’ shall remain.

Up next Theo should render Proton Tuah 3-door, 5-door hatch(new Satria), coupe 2-door(new Putra) and sportswagon version!

Hint: Cruze Hatch, Forte Koupe, Sonata Wagon.

Thanks Drebar and Boleh Lah Proton.

would be better with sloping rear windsheild
and shorter front
maybe not much you cant do either cos the saga fl front fascia makes the car look too big to be a hatchback
nice thought, anyway

It’s a cute car with the hatchback modification. But the rear could have been slightly more curvy, to make it a little more appealing. 🙂 IMHO, I think it will give your “best selling national car”, the MyVVi a run for its money, if Proton really comes out with this hatchback version.

Dear Theophilus,

For Proton Saga Wagon @ Estate, the rear boot door should be the hatchback type, not dual splitting door type. Whereas for Proton Saga Hatchback @ Aeroback, it is not necessary to shorten the luggage space like Savvy and Satria Neo. Just use the Proton Saga Sedan platform but only do the slope and hatchback door like Proton Wira Aeroback, with overall dimensions are similar with Proton Saga Sedan.
