Honda Tif

When Honda’s CEO Takeo Fukui delivered his 2008 year-end speech, some people missed the official acknowledgment by the Japan HQ that Honda will be entering the entry-level small car segment for the first time, out of Japan of course.

Details on the new car are sparse, but an introduction is expected within two to three years. The new small Honda will be an A-segment hatchback like the Suzuki Alto, the Hyundai i10 and the Kia Picanto.

My renderings are based on the Pininfarina b0 concept. I incorporated the Honda City’s headlights and grille, and Jazz/Fit’s bumper.

These renderings appeared in paultan, autoblog, autobloggreen and chinacartimes.

It’s esppecially funny to read the chinacartimes post.

It’s amazing how you could design such a car, because I presume this is your own creation which is a beautiful Honda. Marvelous! Could you show me how you did it? It’s wonderful!

Hi Frank, I did not design the car from scratch. I manipulated the original Pininfarina Bo concept into a Honda.

I was just asked similar question, so let me share with you, what I told my friend, and many others who have asked me…

I do not have a set or rules and method I could write out. However what I can advise, is that you must spend a lot of time looking through car pictures. You will want to match cars with pictures of similar angle, shadow and highlights, from which parts between pictures can inter-change. Colour can be tricky. But that can always be made into grey-scale, then colourised again when the car is mostly done. Most importantly, you need to practice again and again and again. The more you do, the more you are familiar with all the filters and widgets in Photoshop that will help make your chop more realistic. And as I learnt, be patience, and have confidence…

Good day to you.

You have a great weekend Raju!
